2020 presidential candidate Mayor Pete was just given a ‘sign language name' and he responded in ASL. A ‘sign name’ is a special sign used to identify someone in Deaf culture. It can only be given by a Deaf person.

Andy Pleasants: 'I just came up with the sign name for .@PeteButtigieg Given his new logo has the imagery of a bridge and “build bridges, not walls”, his sign name is P “bridged” across the chest to B!'

Buttigieg: “Hi Andy, appreciate your support! Thank you”

Marlee Matlin: Well, @PeteButtigieg, you're the first candidate for President that I've ever seen sign. Bravo! And @pleasantandy I like the name sign (and the story behind it) that you've given him.
