In this video I teach my helper, Devin, how to float/mud a shower pan using deck mud/sand topping/dry pack. This is his first mud pan he has ever floated and he did a great job. Maybe one more with me helping him and he will be ready to do them on his own.
It is important that we teach our helpers correct methods so that they can keep our trade alive and strong. If anyone, anywhere, is performing shoddy tile work, it reflects bad on our entire industry. The better trained our installers are, the more opportunity there will be in the tile and stone industry.
This video is dedicated to the men who have chosen a profession that does not satisfy them, or they have not yet found a job they like. If you do not like what you are doing, it is never too late to get into the building trades. My hope is that someone will be inspired by this video and start the process of finding a job in the tile trade.
