$125 Cabinet Transformation - How We Did It In 5 DAYS

$125 Cabinet Transformation - How We Did It In 5 DAYS Heyo,

Please enjoy this mediocre video of us turning our kitchen cabinets from a golden oak color to espresso using the Rust-oleum Cabinet Transformation Kit. We both work 9-5 jobs and it only took us 5 days (mon-fri). We have a pretty decent sized kitchen and only needed the small kit which is awesome because it's only $100. We also had enough to paint window frames, a door, and other trim with just the one kit. We also got new hardware off amazon for $25. Highly recommend using this product to update your kitchen since it is pretty easy (just a little time consuming) and very cheap compared to buying all new cabinets. Our cabinets were mostly wood, but some of the sides were linoleum.

Full timeline:
Day 1 -
Deglosser: Scrub then wipe down everything you plan on painting.
Painted back side of cabinet doors.
Day 2 -
Taped off inside of cabinets.
Painted first coat of inside cabinets
Day 3 -
Painted first coat of front side of cabinet doors.
Day 4 -
Kicked ass and painted the second coats on the inside cabinets and the doors. Also put on the topcoat.
Day 5 -
Installed hardware, put doors back on cabinets.

*Tips*
- Make sure to label your doors with corresponding cabinets (1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, etc.) so you don't mix them up. This also helped when we installed the hardware to know where to screw them on (top, bottom, left, right, etc.)
- Put all the screws in a cup so you don't lose them
- Stacking the doors on solo cups (or anything similar) really helps when painting the sides)
- We just left the drawers in and pulled them out to paint and to let them dry. We did not take them out. Felt unnecessary.
- Paint with the wood grain in long strokes.
- We just used classic paint brushes. No rollers needed.
- You do not need to put much topcoat on your brush at all. It is very thin and kind of runny. Brush out the bubbles and where it bunches up in corners.
