Society ਜੋ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੋਝ ਸਮਝਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਸੋਚ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਬਿਨ ਮਾਪੇ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਰਤਾਅ ਕਰੇਗੀ । Society ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਹਕ਼ਦਾਰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੀ । ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਕੁੜੀ ਆਪਣੇ Dreams ਪੂਰੇ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੋਚਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ SDM ਜੀਵਨ ਜੋਤ ਕੌਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੱਤਾ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ Studies ਛੱਡ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ।
ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ Society ਦੇ ਤਾਨੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਅਨਸੁਣਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਆਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ PCS ਵਿਚ Top ਕਰਕੇ ਅੱਜ SDM ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ।
We dream a lot. From the very childhood we start planning our future. But we have no idea, what's another page of our life bringing for us.
In this Society, where a girl is already treated and considered as a burden, We can’t even imagine what a girl without parents would have to go through. Society makes her feel as if she has committed a Crime by existing in the Society.
And if that girl is thinking to study, that becomes a taboo for the society. Especially if you are twenty and about to get married? Say goodbye to your dreams and career. Pursuing a career after marriage for a woman is a challenge even in today's world, especially in our country. They will be expected to take on the roles of housewives and deal with household problems that they shouldn’t have to deal with at such an early age.
It's 2019 and still many girls must be suffering a lot in their career building. When will people wake up and accept and respect women with their dreams? Their education and career will uplift home not subside it.
Similar is the case with SDM Jiwan Jot Kaur who had always been a victim of Society. After losing her parents at an early age, she faced challenges internally as well as from the society. She was compelled to quit her studies and get married. The only question she was surrounded with, why is she even thinking about her dreams after her parents were dead. But she did not deter from her path to success to becoming an IAS officer. She cleared the PCS exam post her marriage and became the SDM officer while being a PCS topper.
