This video shows a typical application of SIMULIA XFlow to predict the efficiency of a helicopter cabins air-conditioning system, courtesy of RUAG Aviation. In modern aircraft design passengers comfort is becoming increasingly important, and the optimization of such systems through the use of CFD simulations brings considerable benefits to aircraft manufacturers. In the specific simulation, shown both natural and forced convection, as well as radiation, are accurately resolved using Large Eddy Simulations (LES) techniques. Moreover, the Lagrangian approach used by SIMULIA XFlow and the lack of a conventional meshing process imply no limitations in the complexity of the cabin geometry used.
