Prime Time With Ravish Kumar, Aug 12, 2019 | The Crisis In India's Auto Sector

A special focus on Prime Time on the auto sector which is reeling under crisis. SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), in a meeting with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, sought a reduction in GST rates of passenger vehicles. Weak sales has led to auto manufacturers cutting down production at many of their manufacturing plants. Sushil Mahapatra visits a few car showrooms in Faridabad and car manufacturers' warehouses in Gurgaon to find out the ground situation of the slowdown in the automobile sector and its impact on the thousands of contractual employees directly or indirectly involved in the industry. The situation has also hit the automotive parts manufacturers who say that due to drastic reduction in orders, they have had to lay off many of their employees. (Audio in Hindi)
