Why learning Checkmate with Bishop and Knight is important

Why learning Checkmate with Bishop and Knight is important Supratim Ghosh (1297) faced a rare predicament of having to checkmate with Bishop and Knight against veteran of the game Tamal Chakrabarty (1791) in the final round of All Bengal Open Rapid tournament at Aaykar Bhawan, Kolkata.

It was a rapid game of 25 minutetes each + 3 seconds increment for the entire game. Supratim had few seconds left on the clock, but most importantly he did not know how to checkmate with Bishop and Knight, thus the game went on for 50 moves without any progress and draw was given by the arbiter as one of the player had made their 50-move draw claim.
