American retailers, customers hit by U.S. levies on Chinese imports

The U.S. market is being affected by new tariffs on Chinese goods. The first batch of imports, slapped with taxes on September 1, includes smart watches, TVs, and footwear. The second batch spans cellphones, laptops, toys and clothing, and will see additional levies coming into effect on December 15.
