Crime up 7% in first half of 2019, largely due to rise in scams: Police

Overall crime cases in Singapore rose and a surge in scams was largely to blame. Police said on Aug 30 that in the first half of 2019 there were more than 16,000 cases reported. That was a seven per cent increase compared to the same period in 2018. Technology-enabled scams made up 80 per cent of the top 10 scam cases reported in the first half of 2019.
