While thousands of Zimbabweans turned out to say farewell to former president Robert Mugabe, the stadium in which his state funeral was held was largely empty. The later years of the 95-year-old's reign were marked by repression and economic ruin, evident in the fact that world leaders outside of Africa did not attend the event, and only 30% of seats in the stadium with a capacity of 60,000 were filled.
