Save Sea Turtles from Gruesome Deaths on Hooks | Oceana

Sea turtles need our help. Right now the Pacific Fishery Management Council is considering issuing permits for destructive and wasteful pelagic longlines, a deadly fishing gear that can stretch for 60 miles and contain thousands of hooks.

This horrific fishing gear has been banned in West Coast waters for decades for a reason. There is absolutely NO reason to permit this fishing gear. It’s reckless and irresponsible when pelagic longlines are proven to be deadly for animals that need to surface for air, and we won’t stand for it.

Tell the PFMC: NO West Coast pelagic longline permits. Don’t let sea turtles, dolphins and other vulnerable marine life pay the ultimate price:
