This is the second vlog of our trip to Peru in September of 2019. We started off our Peru experience in Lima, the capital city, and then headed down to Cusco for a few incredible days! Cusco is one of Latin America’s oldest and most historic cities. It is the land where the Incan empire once ruled and a place where you will want to spend a good amount of time in ⌚️ All map images of courtesy of Google Earth
The Incan Empire was massive, but Cusco is thought to be the place where their most populated city was. From Cusco you can take day trips to iconic places such as:
Machu Picchu ⛰
Rainbow Mountain 🌈
The Sacred Valley ❤️
Laguna Humantay 💧
Getting too Cusco is relatively easy. You can take a bus from anywhere in Peru, but the distances can be really long and very mountainous 🏔
I would highly recommend flying. There are direct flights into Cusco from various Peruvian cities and from a few international locations including:
Bogota, Colombia 🇨🇴
Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱
Quito, Ecuador 🇪🇨
La Paz, Bolivia 🇧🇴
My favorita airline in Latin America is Avianca. It is not the cheapest, but I think their service is top notch. There are other airlines such as: Latam, Viva Air and Peruvian Airlines ✈️
Cusco is literally packed with hotels and hostels. There are so many different options for any type of budget. If you are looking for a cheap, but good option I would highly recommend staying at Ukukus Hostel. You can get a private room for around $15 USD a night! 💰
You can find all sorts of tour companies in the city offering guided trips to Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, Sacred Valley, Laguna Humantay and many other locations!
Big Tip!! - I heard you can pay close to $70-80 USD to hire a taxi or private driver for the day 🚕
You will want to spend the majority of your time in Cusco’s historic center! It is packed with travelers and it is very well preserved. Make sure to check out Plaza de Armas - It is stunning!! 😱
