Hong Kong leader hopes for peaceful resolution amid university standoff Hong Kong's leader, Carrie Lam, said Tuesday she is hoping the standoff between anti-government protesters and police at Hong Kong Polytechnic University can be resolved peacefully and had asked police to handle it in a "humane way."

Lam outlined that minors currently inside the university, if they come out peacefully, would be allowed to leave without being arrested.
