How To Fit and Demount Polymax and Polyplumb

How To Fit and Demount Polymax and Polyplumb The two systems you'll find in Plumbase branches are Polyplumb and Polymax.

Polyplumb is the grey traditional system. Cut the pipe at the K mark with a pair of pipe cutters and insert a pipe stiffener. You can use a plastic stiffener or metal stiffener, then simply push the pipe into the fitting. To know you've made the joint properly you'll see the K mark has gone right up to the edge of the joint.

Polyplumb is classed as a permanent system but can actually be demounted. To do this all you need to do is undo the nut and take the pipe out with the components on. The key to reuse is you have to replace the grab ring every time. You can buy a spares pack for this. Simply put a new grab ring on, put the fittings back and reuse again.

Polymax is the white secure demountable system. These also have K marks on the pipe but are at slightly different lengths to the ones on the grey pipe because the sockets are slightly different lengths. Take the pipe cutters again and cut the pipe at the K mark. Put the pipe insert in. You can use plastic or metal inserts, or a seal stiffener for extra protection. Push the pipe in as you would with Polyplumb. Polymax is a fully demountable system, so you can't tamper with it as it is secure. Take a simple tool and push that back and the pipe comes out so you can use that component again.
