Setting goals is a very important part of your business journey, and your private life. My tips here can be used for both. So many people talk about SMART goals – yes they certainly do need to SPECIFIC, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC, and TIME BOUND, yet there is more you also need to know.

Make sure that it's possible to achieve the goals you set.

We're coming to the end of 2019 and, you know what, in the new year people are going to be setting these New Year's goals, and they set huge targets for themselves. 2020 is a new decade, and so it brings people wanting to go huge goals. I believe in those huge goals; however, statistics show that everyone who sets a New Year's resolution, almost everyone, never achieves it. They might say, "I'm going to get fit. I'm going to join the gym." They get the gym membership, they attend for the first two or three weeks, and then life gets in the way, and they stop. So, I'm gonna give you some tips on how you can achieve those goals. You can still have the long-term vision, yet you're chunking it down into smaller chunks. For me personally, I love to see it on my daily planner, and I love the act of actually ticking it off or crossing it out.

So, what does this got to do with our big long-term goals? It's got a lot. Let's think about our long-term goals, what we want to achieve for 2020. Let's then chunk them down into small achievable tasks, and of those small achievable tasks, what do we need to do each day to get to those achievements. It is about writing the long-term goals, being very clear about having those goals, and it's also about breaking them into small, achievable, chunks that you can achieve. Start setting your goals today. Start looking at the little things you can do to achieve your long-term goals.
