Indonesia's Ulema Council launches programme to ensure moderate Islamic teachings

Indonesia is moving to ensure Islamic preachers promote moderate Islam. The Ulema Council is the country's top Muslim advisory body, and it has launched a standardisation programme to head off far-right or far-left Islamic thought. The council’s move to curb the spread of radicalism comes after a suicide bombing on Nov 13 was found to be linked to the Islamic State terrorist group.
