Koalas Have Lost A Majority Of Their Habitat In Australia's Recent Fires UPDATE: Lewis’ burns were unfortunately too severe and he had to be euthanized, according to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital.

Australia's already dwindling koala population is being threatened by devastating bushfires that have burned more than 2.5 million acres on the country's east coast. As many as 350 koalas are feared dead — but search and rescue teams are scouring the area to save the mammals. Read more:
