API Huntin' Stick: 17.5" cut from "top" of blank stick to below 2nd step location. Then flip the hardware so the double steps are facing the "wrong way". This will put the versa button on the correct end of the stick without having to drill any further holes. Attach standoff and steps to both top and bottom steps and install versa button.
Aiders are 7mm accessory cord (REI) and in fixed loops to allow a roughly 21-23" step from bottom of aider to top of middle step. Of course adjust accordingly based on your height and leg length. Remember that many layers added in colder temps will significantly reduce your leg flexibility. So 24" in blue jeans will be much harder in 20deg and hunting clothes.
