Song # 1612.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. In the Book of Romans in chapter 2 we read of God’s righteous judgement. Though Paul’s letter to the Romans was written some 2,000 years ago, its message is still very relevant to us today. You have no excuse, you who pass judgement on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgement do the same things (Romans 2:1). Now we know that God’s judgement against those who do such things is based on truth (Romans 2:2). So when you, a mere man, pass judgement on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgement? (Romans 2:3). Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, tolerance and patience, not realising that God’s kindness leads you towards repentance? (Romans 2:4). But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when His righteous judgement will be revealed (Romans 2:5). God will give to each person according to what he has done (Romans 2:6). To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honour and immortality, He will give eternal life (Romans 2:7). But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger (Romans 2:8). There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil, first for the Jew, then for the Gentile (Romans 2:9), but glory, honour and peace for everyone who does good, first for the Jew, then for the Gentile (Romans 2:10).
Thought for today: for eternal life, it’s not what you know, but who you know.
Thought for the future: trust in God today, and prepare for your tomorrow. Where will you spend your eternity?
