Wassup Boe! Ethan and I head out to the basecamp to build a fireplace and chimney out of mud and cinder blocks. First, we do away with the old firepit and flatten out the ground. Once the ground became flat, we laid the base of the fireplace with half slabs. We slowly built our way up, interlocking the bricks as we went. Then, we narrowed the top so that the smoke would funnel upwards out of the shelter. To seal all of the gaps, we coated the entire thing in a mud mixture that consisted of dirt, straw, and a little bit of water. Once the fireplace and chimney was built, we earned a relaxing evening with lots of good food. We cooked up some fat steaks out on the campfire along with some A1 sauce and instant mashed potatoes. We then headed inside the shelter and started the first fire in the fireplace. We coated the grill grate in aluminum foil so that it would create a mini convectional oven. From there we made a Totino’s pizza that came out a little burn if I am being completely honest.
