Surfing the Point at Esterillos Oeste

This is one of my favorite spots on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. When you get to the beach at Esterillos Oeste walk north until you see the bronze statue of a naked lady about 200 ft out in thee surf (no seriously). She marks where a rock ledge extends over 500 ft out into thee sea and creates a great point break. This is thee most popular spot in the Esterillos area but watch out for crocodiles. There are three rivers that dump out into these beaches and the crocodiles sometimes swim through the surf from one river to the other. No one has ever been reported to have been bit or eaten by a crocodile in the surf here but the locals have lots of warning on the internet to be aware of them.
