WATCH: Evidence against Trump is ‘overwhelming,' Democratic lawyer says | Trump impeachment hearings Daniel Goldman, the Democratic House counsel, told House lawmakers the evidence that President Donald Trump violated his oath of office is “overwhelming.” Goldman’s statement came in response to questions from Rep. Jerry Nadler, the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, during a committee hearing on Dec. 9. The Judiciary and Intelligence committees have led the impeachment inquiry into Trump, hearing testimony from witnesses and legal experts about Trump’s conduct. The case has revolved around a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
