My granddaughter, Madi did NOT follow in her dad's footsteps as an accomplished organist/pianist starting when he was 3 yrs old and he began taking lessons at age 4. His 1st teacher was the San Diego Padre's organist back in the mid-70s and she knew my son had a special talent. I have only an ear for music, not much talent. My husband's mom was a concert pianist w a Julliard School of music scholarship BUT my son wasn't biologically related to my husband.... THAT is a long VERY long, tragic and sad story, Part of my autobiography, "On my Way Home"
But our home was always filled with music as we were surrounded by professional musicians thru my husband part-time job during his college years when he worked for Baldwin Pianos and Organs.
. . So you'd think my granddaughter would love learning the piano instead of percussion instruments.
As you can see, she IS VERY talented at timing, percussion....banging on drums!
She is in a well-known heavy metal band, "Wise Men's Fear" and "Sojourners" playing percussion.
Heavy Metal is NOT my type of music, but....I'm proud of her no matter what. of course, she is part of me and I love her more than anything. Missing her so much as she lives in the midwest.
Link to the band she's part of.
