'I wished I could die': IRGC commander takes responsibility for Ukraine plane crash

'I wished I could die': IRGC commander takes responsibility for Ukraine plane crash Iran's Revolutionary Guard Senior Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh blamed the U.S. for spiking tensions in the region on Saturday, after admitting to mistakenly shooting down a Ukrainian airliner.

"When I confirmed what had happened, I really wished I could die myself," Hajizadeh said during a press conference on Saturday in Tehran.

All 176 people aboard the Ukrainian jetliner were killed, including 57 Canadians when it went down on the outskirts of Tehran during takeoff early on Wednesday, just hours after Iran launched a barrage of missiles at two Iraqi bases housing U.S. forces.
