An introduction to Item Definition as per ISO 26262, the Pre-Requisite for HARA! Before your functional safety consultants start the Hazard Assessment and Risk Analysis (HARA), it is imperative for them need to understand the system and components that fall under the scope of ISO 26262 standard.

This system or an array of systems, which need to be compliant to ISO 26262 standard, is called an Item. And the description of the item is known as “Item Definition”.
