Grieving as an Atheist? How Even Can They?

I have been asked time and time again how grieving as an atheist would work. As a group of people who mostly don't believe in an afterlife, we don't have a way of finding comfort in that we will one day see them again. Do how should atheists, or anyone else for that matter, grieve major loss?
