NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine believes that a major Earth-shattering asteroid is on route for impact. This warning comes right after a surprise visit by “Asteroid 2019 OK” which passed by the Earth at a threatening distance of 1/5th to the moon. Any close flyby of such a scale is bound to generate unrest.
Shrugging off any notions that this was fodder for a new Bruce Willis sci-fi action flick, Mr. Bridenstine said the following in a press statement, “We have to make sure that people understand that this is not about Hollywood, it’s not about the movies.”
To prepare for the collision, which NASA says is a case of when and not an ‘if’, NASA is working on their new DART system that can deflect the orbit of asteroids.
